Is It Worth Upgrading the HVAC System During a Home Renovation?

I’m in the middle of planning a home renovation and started wondering whether this is the right time to deal with my HVAC system too. The house is about 18 years old, and while the heating and cooling still work, it’s not very efficient and some rooms are always hotter or colder than others.

Since walls and ceilings might already be opened for other work, does it usually make sense to upgrade ductwork or replace parts of the system at the same time? Or is that something better handled as a separate project later on?

I’m also curious what signs homeowners should watch for that indicate an HVAC system is near the end of its life higher energy bills, uneven airflow, strange noises, or frequent repairs maybe?

If anyone has upgraded their system during a remodel, I’d love to hear how it went, what you wish you had planned for…

This is actually one of the best times to look at the HVAC system, especially if walls or ceilings are already coming open for other parts of the renovation. Access is a big part of the cost, so combining projects can sometimes save money compared to tearing things up again later.

The signs you mentioned are pretty accurate uneven temperatures between rooms, rising utility bills, strange noises, and repeated service calls usually mean the system is struggling or ductwork isn’t doing its job anymore. Homes around that 15–20 year mark often start seeing efficiency drop even if the unit is still technically running.

One thing that helped someone I know was getting a clearer picture of overall renovation costs first, including mechanical upgrades, by consulting hvac estimators before final decisions were locked in. That made it easier to weigh whether upgrading during the remodel made financial sense or if it was better phased later.

If you do go ahead with HVAC work, I’d strongly suggest having the duct layout reviewed too poor airflow is often more about distribution than the equipment itself. Curious to hear what others here experienced after bundling HVAC upgrades into a remodel.

GaN powered Chargers: Stewardship and Staying Connected in the Work of the Kingdom

In the Book of Acts, we see a church that was constantly "on the move"—gathering in homes, traveling to spread the Gospel, and staying connected through deep relationships. In our modern apostolic journey, staying connected isn't just a spiritual priority; it’s a practical one. As we utilize digital tools to share testimonies, coordinate house church locations, and study the Word, the way we manage our resources becomes an act of stewardship.

Power for the Journey Just as we need the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to function as the Body of Christ, our physical tools need efficient power to keep us connected. This is where modern innovation meets mindful stewardship. Many in our community are moving toward GaN powered Chargers (Gallium Nitride) for their devices. But why does this matter for a house church movement?

Efficiency and Stewardship…
