Is It Worth Upgrading the HVAC System During a Home Renovation?
I’m in the middle of planning a home renovation and started wondering whether this is the right time to deal with my HVAC system too. The house is about 18 years old, and while the heating and cooling still work, it’s not very efficient and some rooms are always hotter or colder than others.
Since walls and ceilings might already be opened for other work, does it usually make sense to upgrade ductwork or replace parts of the system at the same time? Or is that something better handled as a separate project later on?
I’m also curious what signs homeowners should watch for that indicate an HVAC system is near the end of its life higher energy bills, uneven airflow, strange noises, or frequent repairs maybe?
